Summary for the Group Assignment

In this third semester, I've studied the Business Statistics module. For the first assignment, that is the group assignment, we have to make an analysis of the customers’ preference on the car wash service because our client would like to open a car wash center in Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus. We have chosen the services that we would like to provide in the car wash. That is snow or normal car wash, polishing and vacuuming. We have selected this services based on the popularity in the marketplace. So, we have come out with 60 questionnaire to check whether the type of car wash services provided will be influenced by the gender, age of customer, the monthly income/pocket money owning by the customer or the time spent for car wash per month (in hours).

Next, we have come out with a data collection that is based on the 60 questionnaire. From this data collection, we can proceed to the next procedure that includes data analysis. For the first part, that is the bar chart, we have chosen the “types of services” as our variable. From the data analysis, we can found that the polish services has the highest amount of users. Meanwhile, the vacuum services is the opposite and as we can see, the snow car wash is in between those two.

Next, we have to do a pie chart, and we decided to use the “time spent for car wash per month in hours” as our variable. We have chosen the range from one to five hours spent per month to wash car. After the pie chart were constructed, we can see that the highest time spent is 3 hours. Following the lead is 2 hours spent then 1 hour and as follow is 4 hours. The last to follow is 5 hours.

Mean                    -  2.716666667

Median                 - 3

Mode                    - 3

Standard Deviation - 1.165778516

Variance                - 1.359039548

Range                   - 5

Following, we generated a summary statistics for the “time spent for car wash per month”. For the central tendency value, we have chosen the mean because it can show the middle of a set of data that does not have an outlier that is 2.7167. For the dispersion value, we have selected the standard deviation that is 1.1658. It is a measure of how precise the mean of a population or sample is and it is used to indicate trends in the elements in a given data set with respect to the mean.

Subsequent, we prepared a histogram based on “time spent for car wash per month”. After the histogram has been constructed, there are five levels of customers that spent their time in snow washing, vacuuming or polishing respectively. The first frequency level is 10, second would be 16, third would be 20, forth would be 9 and lastly fifth would be 5. Most people would make a three hours straight car wash because it has the capable amount of time to wash, vacuum and polish as each of them would take an average time of one hour. Meanwhile the others may be differ.

Next, a cumulative frequency polygon for the “monthly income/pocket money” are prepared. We required to find the median and the interquartile range. For the median, we just need to take the total frequency then divide it by half and the answer is 3,000. The interquartile range, the procedure is just that we need to take Q3 – Q1 then we will get the interquartile range, 3,950 – 2,200 = RM 1,750.

For the last part, we need to construct a Box Plot for the “Monthly income / pocket money”. After we have construct the Box Plot, we are required to identify the outliers. The Box Plot that we have constructed, the shape between the two particles is the same. An outlier is any data point that is more than 1.5 times the IQR from either end of the box. The outlier is 1.5 times the IQR is 1.5 X 2,500 = 3,750.

In conclusion, the client want us to provide the data analysis for them is to let them know the demand in Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus so that they can make the right and perfect choice and to study what is the highest demand services that the people wants so that they can provide the most suitable services to the consumer.
